Solana Mobile said it has begun shipping its Seeker encrypted smartphone, with “tens of thousands” of units now leaving buyers’ warehouses in more than 50 countries, according to an August 4 memo. to update.

The Seeker is the second generation phone from Solana Mobile, a Solana Labs company, following last year’s Saga device. The Android-powered device comes pre-loaded with blockchain features like a hardware security solution called Seed Vault key storage, a built-in Solana dApp Store, and a Genesis Token onchain that gives holders early access to new apps and SKR token rewards.

Solana’s dApp Store lists more than 100 apps, from community-driven DEX aggregator ShapeShift, to payments, DeFi, and gaming. The company has teased deeper integration with its AI and DePIN services. Each phone generates a Genesis Token and future SKR rewards, mirroring the Saga’s “Chapter Two” airdrop that helped drive demand for the first model.

Solana Laboratories First Announce Shipping date in May. Seeker’s rollout aligns with Solana’s broader mobile strategy, which now includes a social media entrepreneur and head of product X Nikita Beer as advisor.

The Saga’s successor, Seeker, joins a small but expanding list of native crypto smartphones aimed at mainstream users. Back in 2023, Saga entered the phone market with a hefty price tag of $1,000. Slow sales eventually brought the price down to $599 months later, and Solana offered a live BONK memecoin drop. The distribution sparked demand as the free codes became more valuable than the cost of the phone.

Other products, such as the HTC Exodus 1 in 2018, Sirin Labs’ Finney, and Pundi X’s BOB, have explored the crypto smartphone market. However, the early participants were small compared to Solana’s efforts.
