Donald Trump slammed Peter Schiff as a “loser” and “idiot” after the Bitcoin critic said US prices will continue to rise.
Trump’s criticisms have followed those of economists comments In an interview with Fox News, when he said The biggest problem facing the US government now is “excessive” spending.
He added that he expects Trump to address the country’s deficit through interest rate cuts and a “comprehensive return to quantitative easing.”
He said: “All of this means that life will become more unbearable under Trump than it was under Biden.”
He predicted that the inflation rate “will accelerate as Trump’s term progresses” and said his policies “continue to influence prices.”
“Most other prices are higher,” he added. “Yes, it may not be up 9% a year yet, but it continues to go up.”
Trump says he is correcting Biden’s mistakes
Angered by Schiff’s comments, Trump launched a blistering attack on his “Social Truth” platform.
“Why did Fox and Friends Weekend (of all things?) hire a ‘stockbroker’ named Peter Schiff, a loser who hates Trump and has already proven him wrong,” Trump asked. He said.
Trump added: “He believes prices are rising, when in fact they are falling dramatically,” noting that the price of gasoline recently reached $1.99 per gallon. He added, “Almost all other prices have decreased.”
Trump said former President Joe Biden caused the current affordability crisis, and he is trying to fix it.
Although gasoline prices have fallen, inflation remains on an upward path, with the US Consumer Price Index rising 3% in September from a year earlier.
Shiv fires again
Schiff acknowledged in a follow-up post on X that some prices, including gasoline prices, may be lower now, but said he was unsure how long that would take.
He also said Biden got “a lot of help in causing the affordability crisis, including from Trump during his first term.”
“It doesn’t fix it,” he said. “It makes it worse.”
Wild. Trump called me a loser, an idiot, and a Trump hater because I told the Fox audience the truth about the high cost of living. He said: “Since President Trump called me a fool and a loser for claiming that prices are still rising while he insists that they are trending down, I challenge him, or his representative, to a discussion about the American economy and the effectiveness of his policies.” “If I’m as wrong as he says, prove it.”
He then added, “Given how much Trump hates the truth, I think he should change the name of his social media platform to Lie Social.”
Housing affordability
Schiff also criticized housing policies, saying housing The lack of affordability is “a direct result of efforts by the government over multiple administrations to try to make housing affordable”.
He added: “But it backfired, like everything the government does.” “The only solution to the housing affordability problem is for the government to get out of the way and allow house prices to fall, which they will do.”
But he warned that doing so would lead to another financial crisis because it would cause many homeowners to default on their mortgage payments.
A turbulent week for Schiff after the Czechoslovakia row at Binance Blockchain Week
It’s been a tumultuous week for Schiff, an economist with 1.2 million followers on X who loves to stir up controversy among Bitcoinmax.
During a discussion with BInance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, in Binance Blockchain Week, Schiff defended Bitcoin-tokenized gold as a long-term store of value and inflation hedge. Tokenizing gold takes the best that the commodity has to offer and puts it on the blockchain, he said.
The discussion made headlines after CZ showed a piece of gold on stage and asked Schiff to check if it was gold.
“If I give you bitcoin now, we can verify that you received it in several ways,” CZ said. “It snaps instantly and transparently onto the string.”
Then Czechoslovakia handed Schiff a gold bullion.
“It says Kyrgyzstan, 1,000 grams, pure gold, 999.9, and a serial number,” CZ said, and then Schiff asked if it was real gold.
“I don’t know,” Schiff replied.
