It may be just to look back with a pride in my time covering the football team in Massachusetts. It may be just the fact that after a season fraught with difficulties, UMASS (2-10) placed in the three best offers in the season in a row in the last three games. It may be the fact that after the launch of the former team coach Don Brown during the season, which is Kakovon from the positions outside the field and injuries in the field, it seemed that businessmen put all this noise behind them against Uconn.
This may be because of those reasons, but I think this was one of the best offensive offers that I saw from UMASS in the three years in which the team covers. But the game, which was separated again, retreated again through the Minutemen fingers, where Huskies (8-4) was held and won 47-42.
The three stages of the game should improve if the Minutem men want success in their new conference. The special teams were the curse of existence for Maroon and White fans, at least as long as I was covering the team. I books Once again in September 2022, the private teams were Achilles heel for UMASS and that the games that were an explosion were, if not a victory, at least much closer to the scores of the point that exceeded 40 years and which was plagued by the first year of Brown.
Now, after two seasons, the private teams still cost to win. Even achieving the lost field goal against Liberty (which would give UMASS its first victory in the FBS for this year), the special teams again cost UMASS against Uconn. The 96 -yard drop in the later stages of the first quarter was another chapter in the book of special teams’ mistakes. Of course, it is not known whether the strong structures have registered the drive if not touching the return land. But in a five -point game, this should be the mistake that was first directed.
Penalties are another field that has not yet improved in the three years that you covered this team. How many times it seems that UMASS has seized a big tour outside before you see the yellow flag flies across the air? How much did you gain opposition crimes due to the hand of the defender on the recipient’s shirt, who is in his ability to pick up the ball?
On Saturday, the sanctions raised their ugly head. The ten penalties that Democrats earn are not already cannot sneeze, but looking at the nature of the sanctions makes it clear with the amount of the problem that is really. Three penalties for an illegal transformation in crime and an illegal replacement punishment for defense of the Umass’s alleged nature in its current form.
“We had to burn some deadline there in the first half … We are only [got to] “Do better,” said Shin Montgomery, temporary coach. “We had some misunderstanding, and this could not happen … I think we have 12 men in the field twice.”
Nevertheless, the five UMASS was lost in a game that placed the line in -10.5 for Uconn. There are things that can be built on. But I thought there were things that must be built after every close loss that I saw this team playing in the past three seasons.
I thought this after UMASS against UCONN in 2022 when Brady Olson had finally turned the corner and overcame YIPS that he seemed to follow everywhere in UMASS. I believed this after losing the additional work against New Mexico in 2023, when Ahmed Haston, as a real student, mobilized the team to additional work after injuries in each of Taisun Phommachanh in the previous game and Carlos Davis during the competition.
I found myself thinking again on Saturday, as I mentioned above. AJ Hairston, a new mind, led to you, a crime that recorded 28 points in half, and the greatest UMASS in half this season, with three drop points. Gallin John and CJ Hester had more than 50 yards on the ground and a decline, and these two players, except for transportation, would get Minutemen next season.
There are always good things that are built after these close losses. UMASS only has not yet obtained permits to start construction.
Who knows where this program will be within three years? Joining the mid -America conference can only mean good things for the future of football in Massachusetts. I only knew and covered this team as independent, which means that I saw more games more than most five schools played in the past decade. You must become less and farther between a conference.
With a new lead coach in the battle soon, things can be shaken. But there is a basis here, if things go well, he may compete for the eligibility of the Sultanate and at the end the title of Mac.
If there is no minutemen in another three years, then something wrong occurred. But frankly? This may be just equal to the course.
