Mumbai: The cabinet in Maharashtra approved on Tuesday the “Mahaagri-Ei) 2025-2029 policy, which aims to introduce artificial intelligence, drones and robots in agriculture to increase production and reduce costs.
The government proposes to put the agricultural sector at the forefront of the digital age and encourage farmers to take advantage of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, drones, computer vision, robots, and predictive analyzes, in agriculture.
The government has allocated 500 rupees to implement policy.
A senior minister stated that this policy is necessary to help farmers benefit from technology, unlike traditional agriculture, and reduce the costs of inputs while also recovering them. “This will increase” the use of farmers centered “to search, exchange data for artificial intelligence technology, and support startups, making Maharashtra a pioneer in digital agricultural innovation.”
With the help of artificial intelligence, a dedicated advice for farmers in marathi will be provided with chat keys and sound aides in that language. It will provide information on crop production, diseases and pest management, weather forecasts, market prices and government plans. Simulating tools will be linked to national platforms, such as Agristack and Bhashini. Field extension workers will be trained to use artificial intelligence.
The state-level tracking certificate and quality-level tracting platform will be created on AI and Blockchain and QR-Code Technology to ensure food security and transparency in the supply chain, ensure food quality and access to the global market for agricultural products.
This platform will also create a digital and geographical record of fertilizers and pesticides applied to crops, agricultural practices, post -harvesting processing, and quality certificates, among other details, throughout the trip from the farm to the consumer.
